Revenant

Seven moments you come to me. Your scent on the wind. Your breath on my cheek. Cherries and smoke. Seven moments I freeze, paralyzed with grief. Your touch torments me, lingering against my skin. Seven moments I choke down the loss of you, refusing to accept your lost years.

  1. I love the imagery and emotion in this- but the ‘seven moments’ phrase repeated throws it off for me. The depth of feeling seems to encompass much more than seven moments.

    • Same. That was the sharp intake of breath for me too. It’s such a perfect capture of the intertwinedness (that’s a word now, okay) of senses and memories.
