The Devil’s Tomb

He is placed in the tomb.

No tears are shed.

The mourners will not appear

to pay tribute to the dead.

No sympathy for the devil.

He paid the price as he bled.

  1. I know this isn’t what you meant but, I immediately thought of the scene from Amadeus where Mozart was being buried in a pauper’s grave, in the pouring rain, alone. Sad to die without your passing causing, at least, a tiny emotional ripple somewhere in someone. Liked the simple, rhyming cadence of your piece.
